STEM Initiative
The Kids Club Program has been selected to participate in The Power of Discovery: STEM2  a project of the California After School Network and the California STEM Learning Network. Funding for this project is provided by the S.D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation; the Noyce Foundation; and the Samueli Foundation.

What is STEM?  STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.  The STEM Initiative is a series of Professional Development Workshops available to Kids Club staff, as well as a Program Assessment and Program Planning Tool, to help Kids Club programs incorporate STEM activities into our existing curriculum.  These workshops help us increase the availability of high quality STEM learning opportunities that are inquiry-driven and project-based for all of our Kids Club students.  This initiative will increase the engagement of our students in the hands-on exploration of these areas in ways that foster excitement, curiosity and interest in learning.  Kids Club participation in this initiative has gained us recognition within PUSD, and it enables us to better connect our activities to the Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards.

Be on the lookout for STEM activities all summer long at each site~  We have a Kids Club STEM Team that will lead the way to train the rest of the Kids Club staff and engage the Kids Club students in the Power of Discovery!!

Kids Club NEW Fillable Forms (attached to this web page)
We are in the process of developing a Kids Club website that you, as families, will be able to access any time, any where.  We will have staff bios, monthly calendars, contact information, and more available for you at your fingertips.  We are pleased to announce that we have completed our first online form - the Emergency Form.  This form is a PDF fillable form.  You can fill it out, save it to your computer, and update it year after year.  We plan to keep these updated yearly (just like the Elementary Schools).  For this summer, we would like you to bring TWO SIGNED COPIES to Kids Club by Monday, June 24th.  Thank you for your support in helping us have the most current information for your child in case we need to contact you.

Huge Thanks to Our Parent Handbook Committee
We want to say thank you to Christy Duncan-Anderson, Michelle Zapata, Richard and Luree Jones, Jyllian Kemsley, Sara LeBrun, Liza Goldberg, Susane Head, and Jacquelyn Jones for their participation in a committee to update the Kids Club Parent Handbook!  They volunteered their time and gave us some great ideas.  We appreciate it so much, and hope to have the new handbook available for the Fall (and hopefully on our new website!).

As always, thank you for your continued support of the Kids Club Program.  Have a great summer everyone!
