Site Supervisors Recognized at Board Meeting
Amanda, Tammy, Roxanne, Cindy, Danielle, and Sue (from the KC Office) were honored at the January Board meeting for their INCREDIBLE work they did in making the expansion of the Kids Club programs at all five sites successful last summer.  They were given a CSEA Service Award.   Congratulations to all of them!

Revised Kids Club Parent Handbook
After a year of meetings and planning, we are proud to present the newly revised Kids Club Parent Handbook.  ALL families will be receiving a hard copy at their site's Summer Signing.  It will also be available on the website at any time.  The Parent Handbook Committee gave great input.  Some of the revisions include:
  • A completely new look with photos of our students.
  • Better organization so you can find what you need.
  • More details about what happens at the Kids Club Program!
  • Information for families with children that have allergies or chronic health conditions.
  • Policies that are outlined in greater detail.
  • A new Progressive Discipline section that ensures parents and staff working together for the expectations of our students.

Student Survey Results
We are almost done with our Student Surveys!  The students have been taking an electronic version of the student questionnaire on the Kids Club  Chromebooks.  A BIG Thank You to our older students that helped the younger students with the process!  Here are some of the highlights...

Things I like about Kids Club:
  • "The best part about being here is the people here are nice and there are lots of things to do."
  • "I can do coding on the Chromebooks with my friends."
  • "I like that my friends are here and the teachers make me laugh."
  • "The thing I like the best about Kids Club is how they are super big on safety.  For example they have shirts that we wear on field trips so they know where we are at all times."
  • "I like the fact that you can play with anyone you like, no matter if it's a first grader or a fifth grader."
  • "I have lots of friends and people who care for me."
  • "I just love it here."
Things I wish I could change about Kids Club:
  • "I wish for snack you could have an all you can eat buffet."
  • "More time outside."
  • "I would like a bigger cubbie."
  • "That we could get a pet cat."
  • "More and better toys for the older kids."
  • "I want kids to be more fair."
  • I would change snack.  Whenever my someone picks me up around 5:00, all I wanna do is go home and eat SOMETHING!!  McDonald's is looking pretty good around that time.  How about some cheese and crackers?"
We appreciate everyone's input, and each site will talk about new ideas together.  Can't wait to see what they say next year :)

Community Service Project Update
In the last update, we told you that our students would be participating in projects that help our community.    To date, our sites have:
  • Put labels in books donated by the Pleasanton Rotary Club for the Pleasanton Library
  • Made blankets for Project Linus - for critically ill children in hospitals
  • Made placemats for the Open Heart Kitchen Holiday Dinner
  • Donated gently used books to Half Price Books for students who can't afford books
  • Made centerpieces for the Pleasanton Senior Center's Valentine Luncheon
  • Created "Get Well" and "Feel Better Soon" cards for patients at the Children's Hospital in Oakland.  The cards were placed on their food tray for lunch or dinner.
We are so proud of our students for helping the community, and hope that they felt great about the experiences they had!

Summer Staff Update
At this time of year, we always have transitions with our staff.  For a list of your site's current staff members, check out their site's page on our website:  http://kidsclub.pleasantonusd.net.  Be sure to check back at the end of June to see the new Summer Staff!  Your individual site will send you updates about staff as they happen.

Finally, one last reminder that June fees are now $650, and ALL fees must be paid in FULL by Wednesday, June 4th.  If you pay after June 4th, we will need payment by a Cashier's Check or Money Order.

That's the news for now.  Have a great summer, everyone!
